 Prayer for Parents of Large Families Eternal Father, Holy Scripture states "children are a heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward." I thank you and give praise for the many blessings you have bestowed upon me. You revealed to St. Catherine of Siena that one of the heaviest crosses was that which is carried by the parents of large families. Make me ever mindful that this cross, while overwhelming at times, is one of the sweetest and wonderful, and its blessings will not only touch me, but the world in which these children will enter as adults. Strengthen me physically so that I can meet the demands of my households, and do my best to provide for my family. Grant me serenity, so that despite the periods of noise and clutter, tantrums and tears, I will find contentment in knowing that I am doing your will. Bless me with patience and awareness that while I may feel an immediate need, all things will happen when you feel best. Help me grow in love and compassion, so that the struggles of my daily duties will not jade me and keep us from providing support and encouragement to my children when they need it. Teach me tolerance so that I may not only recognize the faults in my children, but my own misgivings, and together as a family work to overcome them and grow more in your image. Give me peace and the foresight to know that despite the difficulties I face, the rewards I receive, in this life and beyond, will be many. Help me to be the best parent that I can be, so in turn I may raise righteous, God-fearing children, who be a glory to you now and for all eternity.
