 Prayer for the Gift of a Child This petition is for married couples who do not yet have a child from their union (this would apply to second marriages where the couple desires a child together). Eternal Father, we praise you for leading us together, and joining us as man and wife. We now ask your guidance with respect to starting a family. Grant us the desire not only for a child, but to join with your will as to the ultimate size of our family. Bestow your knowledge and patience upon us, so that we shall know when it is best to welcome a child into our home, and the acceptance that it may not be at a time or in a manner that is convenient for us.
